DIGITAL MEMORY IN OS SANTOS

ANALYSIS OF THE COMIC STRIP EP. 34 - ABAIXO A CENSURA

Abstract

 In this article, we analyze one of the strips from the comic series Os Santos, entitled “Ep. 34 - Abaixo a Censura”, in order to show its discursive functioning through digital memory, and its relationship with metallic and discursive memory. As a theoretical basis, we take the concepts of digital memory - approached through the studies of Cristiane Dias (2019, 2023), connecting them with that of metallic memory and discursive memory, based on Eni Orlandi (2006) and Michel Pêcheux (1999). As a result, Os Santos, constructed from the resumption of sayings that, when textualized in the frames, promote counter-hegemonic discourses, contests the elitist and classist posture that perpetuates the inequality and prejudice that affect the Brazilian LGBTQAPN+ population. The repetition of what was published in the media assumes a place of resistance, in which there is not only the repetition of everyday scenes, but the displacement of meanings that update the discourses through their inscription in the interdiscourse.
