Abstract

In our culture, although often represented in a romanticized way, the status of women in marriage has been silenced and subjugated to men for centuries. It is to this reality, then, escaping a hegemonic logic, that Adélia Prado addresses her writing in the poems Os lugares comuns and Enredo para um tema, chosen for analysis in this work because they allow for a reflection on a past erasure of the female figure. This, despite seeming distant, has not yet been completely overcome and, even today, sometimes has its repercussions in marital relationships, manifesting itself, to a greater or lesser extent, in the different circumstances in which they take place, resulting in the continued lack of symmetry in marital relationships in many homes.
